named “Winemaker of the Year” countless times, Alois Kracher is the main producer of Austrian sweet wines made with the special “noble rot”. These are grapes affected by the Botrytis Cinerea fungus, which partially dehydrates them in certain weather conditions, and creates exceptional sweet wines.
Kracher Auslese Cuvée starts life on a vast plain, with countless shallow lakes. An impressive location that sees very cold winters, hot summers and heavy fog. This unique microclimate is what causes Botrytis cinerea. A fungus that dehydrates the grape and increases its sugar content. The harvest happens late, selecting the clusters that have been affected by this noble rot. Once the Kracher Auslese Cuvée grape reaches the winery, it ferments in stainless steel tanks and ages in French oak barrels for 5 months.
